Most people classify energy-saving LED headlamps as a safer substitute for tent-bound candle lanterns, but Petzl's Myo XP shines new light on nocturnal potential beyond the tent,campsite. It features a focused, high-power single LED light bulb with a special boost mode that illuminates up to 71 yards for twenty-second intervals. While boost mode is an energy-saving option (batteries can last up to 170 hours), it's a fairly practical feature when you think about how much time you spend looking at the ground directly in front of your feet while hiking or climbing in the pre-dawn,dusk hours.
